My work has piled up big time but I don't care, I love what I do. There are times where the stress gets to me, but not this week, for some reason. Maybe because cooking has been extremely therapeutic; or it could also be that I've been trying to eat healthy too. My sleeping pattern is still all sorts of fucked up but I'm trying to normalize everything. Working out? Uhm, nah. I don't think I'll ever get back to working out which is why I'm eating healthy, lol.
I know I haven’t been updating this personal space on the intarwebz; but that’s only because real life has been crazy. And I mean crazy in a good way. I’ve been going out a lot not just with the boyfriend but with his family. We had a lovely girl’s night out last week at La Vie Parisienne. I intended to review the place while at it but I was too overwhelmed with all the wine choices, so I opted to enjoy the experience first and review it some other time.
This week has been equally crazy; both at work and in my personal life. I’ve been spending more time with my colleagues who are about to leave the company. I’ve also been doing a lot of effort in developing new training materials to be used this year. So far, I’m certainly enjoying creating culture modules because of the deeper understanding you develop in knowing different countries. With that, here are the things I’m grateful for this week.
- The boyfriend sleeping over twice this week; which also means he was able to take me to work and fetch me from the office.
- Constantly cooking my meals. I’ve bringing food for lunch since last week, and not only does it save me a lot of money, it also helps me satiate whatever it is I’m craving for.
- Not missing meals! Since I’ve been cooking my own food, I’ve been more determined not to miss breakfast, lunch or dinner. One of my resolutions for the year to also be healthier. Doing great so far!
- Meal planning for two weeks now. I’m glad this now comes naturally. Last year, I would usually buy too much food and end up wasting most of it. But now, I have improved and nothing is put to waste. Yay!
- Finishing two culture training materials in one week. I enjoy developing training materials, but culture by far is my favorite. I worked on Argentina and Mexico this week; two countries with a vast similarity in their culture.
- Re-discovering Tofu. I’ve used Tofu in a lot of my dishes this week. It may not look as appetizing to some but it’s a mean little ingredient. Bland on its own but mostly absorbs the flavor your marinate it into.
- Integrating tea into my diet. I’ve noticed that my body functions better with tea than with coffee. I used to hate tea, but I’m glad I’ve grown quite accustomed to the taste. I’m starting with black/fruity teas, then moving on to stronger ones.
- Decided to finally buy an action camera. Still doing my research if GoPro is worth the extra bucks because of the name. I’ve seen cheaper action cameras perform really well, which is why I’m making sure I do the necessary amount of research before making the purchase.
- Getting Salmon belly from the boyfriend! He’s feeding me like a bear, LOL.
- IT’S FINALLY FRIDAY. No matter how much learning I’ve had this week, can’t wait for the work week to be over because I lack sleep! I want to spend 2 days hibernating like the real bear that I am, and just wake up again on Monday, haha!
This has been a great week! I’m getting some more work done before I go home just so I won’t have anything to worry about over the weekend. Hit me up with your Friday’s 10 Happy Things too! Aah, can’t wait to reunite with my bed. Have an awesome weekend, folks!
I haven't capped 2015 off but here I am endlessly posting about my food adventures. I've been spending my 2016 scouring for the latest all-you-can-eat buffets, or cooking up something relatively new to excite my palate. The prodigal daughter is also returning to her kitchen. I've been experimenting on different ingredients as of late to expand the variety of taste I'm accustomed to.
This year, to trick myself into drinking more water, I've decided to literally add more spice to whatever it is I'm cooking or eating. I know I'm not the only one who doesn't like water; it's boring, it doesn't taste like anything and I don't like it unless it's freezing cold. But even if it's freezing cold, I'll only take so much which is why I really have to 'trick' myself into drinking water. My skin has suffered irreparable damage because I don't drink enough water, plus I smoke. And I want to change that this year. With that, let me share this easy peasy recipe with you guys!
Ingredients
Pasta (whatever you prefer)
Bravo Pesto Sauce
Spicy Gourmet Tuyo
Eggs
Chilies
Salt and Pepper
Procedure
1. Cook you’re your pasta according to package directions. I like colorful pasta because it makes my food enticing. I get bored if it only has one color, LOL.
2. Once your pasta is cooked, add your ready-to-eat Pesto sauce. Add salt and pepper to taste if it’s too bland for you. I also added chilies.
3. Top with hard-boiled eggs and spicy gourmet Tuyo! You can add as many Tuyo as you want!
I forgot the brand of the Spicy Gourmet Tuyo that I bought, but it wasn’t salty which is why it worked perfectly with the pasta sauce. The store-bought Pesto sauce tasted fresh, I love it. This is not a sponsored post but I highly recommend the brand Bravo. Calorie-wise, it’s also perfect for a person who’s on a diet. I compared the calorie content among other Pesto sauce in the supermarket and it had the lowest calorie count.
There you have it, easy peasy! I whipped this up a few nights ago when I didn’t have enough time to make my baon. But I’m really trying to keep up to my resolution of bringing food to the office as much as I can so I know how my food is prepared. I also want to make sure I use up most of the ingredients I have at home. I get giddy all over when I’m in the supermarket and I have a tendency to overcompensate my excitement by buying things I don’t really need. That definitely has to change this year. And, less time on the computer and more time for cooking! Okay, I have to go and prepare my meal plan for next week, haha. This tasks thrill’s me terribly, LOL. Hope y’all are having an amazing Wednesday!
I know I've said a gazillion times how much I love Japanese food, but can I just say it again? I LOVE JAPANESE FOOD to death! It wasn't in my late twenties that I became fond of Japanese food. When I was working in Technohub, my go-to place was Red Kimono. I was thrilled upon finding out that my next work location would be in Ortigas. Sadly, my office is a bit far from the central business district and the only Japanese place close to my office is Kimono Ken.
Since my first day at the new job, I've eaten a thousand times at this restaurant. It's not the best but it satiates my craving for Sashimi. Lately though, due to the amount of Sashimi we consume every meal, the boyfriend and I would rather settle for all-you-can-eat buffets instead, LOL. I'll tell you more about our buffet adventures on my next post! For now, more on Kimono Ken!
Place + Service
The place is spacious enough, and given the number of times I've had my meals here, the temperature is always on point. Waiters/Waitresses are friendly--I even have one resident staff who takes and serves my orders all the time. Amongst the restaurants that I frequent, they're also the ones who care to remember my name. Well, aside from Starbucks. Service is also prompt most of the time, given the number of customers they get, especially during lunch time.
3 days before the year ends, and here I am, lying in bed the whole day trying to finish 5 seasons of Scandal. I have totally let go of my body this season and I feel fat all over, and I don't even care. I just want to finish all my backlogged posts, which is highly unlikely, but still trying! Before I went on vacation I told myself a hundred times that I'll workout but we all know that's not going to happen. So again, here I am, writing my last recipe post for the year while thinking about the copious amount of food I'll devour on New Year's eve!
I made this recipe during Christmas and my family loved it! It's easy, you only need a couple of ingredients and it's set in a few hours. All of the ingredients can easily be found in your pantry so you don't have to worry about the rush of Christmas shopping! Let's begin!
