I haven't shared a recipe for quite some time now, I've been too lazy to cook because my body has been too fucked up too function. I have been changing my shift at work on a weekly basis, and I can't really say I have fully adjusted. I'm quite surprised I actually had the time to edit photos and post them on the blog and on Facebook. Anyhoo, If I do get a chance to wake up at least 2 hrs before my shift and not, say, 15mins before I'm required to be in the office, I still play around the kitchen.
A couple of weeks ago, I woke up a bit earlier than the usual and had a bit of time to cook my food. I was ecstatic because I don't have that luxury these days. I'm usually glued to my bed, trying to get as much sleep as I can. Going back, I didn't have a lot of ingredients to work with because my pantry was almost empty. I had tuna, tomatoes, onions, garlic and uncooked leftover pasta. If I weren't starving, I would've had tuna and bread, but it felt like my small intestines and large intestines were partaking in the Hunger Games, so I thought, why not mix everything and just have pasta?
Err, not really. The attitude of the sloth, most likely. Looking at my last post from Gigantes, it's sad and exhilarating at the same time to find out that the last update I've had on the blog was over 2 weeks ago. I haven't even had the time to respond to comments, and for that, I apologize. A lot of people sent me messages re: tweaking some of the recipes I posted and I promise I'll respond to everything today! Also, thank you for all the love and queries about the next post, I can feel the love. Sending my hugs and kisses back, booze too if I can. LOL.
Meanwhile in the real world, I'm really enjoying added face time (and no this is not the app) with the people I love. I'm an internet whore and just so you know, it's quite a struggle for me to keep away from it because I heavily rely on the internet for almost everything! Okay, I'm talking too much. That was actually unrelated to the photos I'll be sharing today, but what the hell!
If I were guilty of one thing, that'd be ignoring this blog for over two weeks. I won't lie and say I've been busy, in fact, I was just enjoying life and I had to detach myself a bit from the online world. I didn't cook a lot, too. I slept, watched movies and cuddled with the boyfriend. Every now and then I would check the blog for comments and have to urge to post a new entry but the boyfran would hug me away from the laptop, I mean, who can't say no to that? Definitely not me.
Anyway, this post is a pocontinuation of our trip to Iloilo last September. As I've mentioned in my previous post, Iloilo is indeed a food haven. And upon reaching Islas de Gigantes, it didn't disappoint.
We reached Gigantes Hideaway Inn around lunch time, perfect to feed our starving tummy monsters. Kuya Joseph was our designated tour guide, he made sure our food was prepared by the time we were settled in.
According to Kuya Joseph, Scallops is the main product of their island. No wonder there were scallops in every meal that we had. Lol. And just to be clear, I'm not complaining! Scallops are quite expensive in the metro. For lunch we had grilled scallops, humongous crabs, sweet and sour fish and sizzling scallops! Yummy in the tummy at its finest.
We wanted to have a quick siesta after lunch for we felt like we were in food coma after everything we ate, but we had an itinerary to follow and we were also excited to tour the islands Kuya Joseph kept on talking about during lunch. If you're planning to visit the group of islands in the near future, I suggest that you allot 5 whole days in the island so that you get to enjoy everything with the luxury of time.
I'll tell you more about the islands of Gigantes on my next post. For now, I'm voiceless, down with the flu and I keep on vomiting so I think I'd better call this a day. Happy Monday!
For a good 2 months now, I've been taking more pasta than rice as I believe it has less carbs. I don't really know if I'm saving any calories here but it seems like it because I lost a lot of weight. I don't know how to make my own pasta sauce though; I'm very reliant on ready-to-use sauces which is why I love Clara Ole, Del Monte and other brands that offer instant pasta sauces. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to make my own pasta sauce one day, it's just that I don't have the resources and time right now.
Among all the brands, I love Clara Ole the most because of the various choices they offer. One time while grocery shopping, we saw this 3-cheese pasta sauce and decided to try it. We'd usually go for Pesto but it wouldn't hurt to give this a try.
