Food Diary : Bistro United

Now that I've kickstarted the year with my giveaway, on to more of my backlogged food adventures. Some of which I've been itching to share with you guys since last year but haven't really had the time. I took an online Time Management course the other day and this will hopefully help me keep my b/vlogging schedule intact in the midst of work and school life. A lot of people have been telling me to drop my social media shenanigans, but honestly, I can't. This keeps me sane so guess what, I'll just make sure I make the most out of the extra time that I have. Bye, aimless and senseless day dreaming, lol.

On to our first food diary for the year--I discovered this gem sometime last year around the time when everyone was getting fat, meeting friends, buying holiday gifts and what have you. Y’all know I love all-you-can-eat buffets but sometimes I prefer to have only a specific cuisine. And it feels like a rip off going to Vikings if I’ll only eat one specific cuisine right? This is why Bistro United appealed to me. They offer a different type of all-you-can-eat cuisine each day of the week! I love Asian food so I chose to go on a Thursday. Let’s dig in!

PLACE
The place has a very rustic feel to it. I loooove the interiors especially during the time of my visit because I can feel the ultimate holiday spirit. The  buffet was pretty straightforward and can be immediately seen once you step foot inside the restaurant. The place also has huge glass windows which makes the place perfect for IG-worthy food shots. Parking is a bit limited, they have about 7-8 slots in front of the restaurant but it is shared with other establishments within the building compound.

FOOD
Okay, let me start with the Roast beef. I didn’t have any expectation when I came in because the place was relatively new for me but damn, son. The beef was tender, the sauce was perfect and it was just a divine explosion in my mouth. I later found out that it’s one of their best sellers. Bistro United also offers catering services and it’s one of their most requested dishes. When I asked what’s with the sauce, they didn’t tell me squat hence the name secret sauce, lol. I was also told they cook their beef for 18hrs so you can get that perfect, tender beef slap on to your mouth.

Another favorite was their Yakimon Teriyaki. I usually prefer my fish fried but this smelled so good so I gave it a try, The fish was perfectly cooked, not too dry and not too tender—it was just right. The sauce is also perfect and didn’t overpower the dish in any way. Topped with green onions and pickled onions, a mouthful is a piece of heaven.

Their desserts were to die for as well! I personally enjoyed the coffee jelly, castella and the tilapia ice cream. More about the ice cream later but can I just talk about the Castella? For those who are unfamiliar with this dessert, it’s a Japanese sponge cake made of sugar, flour, eggs, and starch syrup. The texture is buttery soft and slightly spongy. The subtle sweet and creamy taste is perfect, especially when paired with the Basil Lemonade.

Okay, now onto one of the most controversial food on their menu—Tilapia Ice cream! It may seem intimidating because of the combination of flavors, but I assure you, nothing can prepare you enough for the amazing taste this unique creation has to offer. It’s also topped with chili flakes for that added kick since it’s really creamy! I got to bite a few pieces of tilapia while enjoying it and that didn’t bother me at all. A bit odd at first but eventually got used to it.

Will I come back? Definitely! I heard they’re closing their Kapitolyo branch and moving to Makati so that’s a bit of a stretch for me, ugh. I try to avoid Makati as much as I can because of the traffic but for the Roast beef, I’d gladly come back. And before I forget, it's only for P375.00, just in case you're wondering why it's such an amazing discovery for me, lol. Btw, thanks for being patient with me. I know my space has been really quiet lately but thanks for sticking around—if you’re still there. Hehe Happy hump day!
