I have a huge problem with chronology. This post was supposed to be right on time for Chinese New Year, but the giddy little kid in me forgot all about prioritization when I was overwhelmed with too much food, videos and photos to work with. Either way, Chinese New Year or not, I think you'll find my next food adventure as interesting.
As self-proclaimed foodies, the boyfriend and I are always on the lookout for new joints that could tickle our fancy. Admittedly, we're addicted to Japanese food--as evident by the past restaurants I've been going to. But to be honest, we're pretty much obsessed with everything Asian! When we first arrived at Fat Fook, we thought it served Chinese Cuisine. Apparently, it's Taiwanese.
Taiwanese cuisine itself is often associated with influences from mid to southern provinces of China, most notably from the province of Fujian (Hokkien), but influences from all of mainland China can easily be found. A notable Japanese influence also exists due to the period when Taiwan was under Japanese rule. Traditional Chinese food can be found in Taiwan, alongside Fujian and Hakka-style as well as native Taiwanese dishes, including dishes from Guangdong, Jiangxi, Chaoshan, Shanghai, Hunan, Sichuan and Beijing.
