And that's it, easy peasy! I think one technique that I want to share is before cooking the mussels, put them in a basin with water so you can get rid of all the dirt. Someone when they're really dirty I brush the shell before cutting off the excess "hair" you usually see hanging outside the shell. I also tend to add green chillies towards the end for some added kick but again, that's optional. So there you have it for out first recipe of the year! Hope you guys are starting the new year right. I ordered the Gyudon Set (P350) and Salmon Set (P380). I was super excited for the salmon, as always, and I was pretty amused with the selection since for the set you get 8 Salmon Rolls and 3pcs of Salmon Sushi. The Salmon was okay, nothing special. I've tasted better. But if you're craving for Salmon, this would be enough to satiate your craving. The Gyudon was just okay too, nothing special about it and pretty pricey at P350 given the serving. 

Would I go back? If I were really, really, really craving for Japanese food I would. But if not, I think the price is a bit too steep for my weekly eat out budget. There is a nearby Japanese restaurant just beside Ganchan that I've tried which I think would be a better fir if you're on a budget, and that will be up next on the blog. 

Tell me if you're getting sick of all the Japanese food I'm posting in here. Haha I just realized most of the things on my food diary are all Japanese, if not seafood lol. I promise you I'm trying to make the content as diverse as possible by planning where to eat out next. But for today, I can't and won't promise this will be the last but I'm sharing yet another go-to restaurant when I'm craving for Japanese food.

Ingredients

Pork (I prefer pork belly)

Eggs

Onions

Garlic

Pepper

Soy Sauce

Vinegar

Sugar

Bay Leaf

Procedure

1. Combine the onion, garlic, pork, soy sauce and vinegar in one pot. The soy sauce is about 2 cups and vinegar is about 2 tablespoon. Bring to a boil. 

2. While waiting for the pork, boil your eggs. I love eggs so I boil about 5-7 at a time. 

3. Once the pork is boiling, do a little taste test and adjust accordingly. You can choose to add more soy or vinegar or add water depending on how you like your Adobo. Let it boil some more. 

4. It usually takes me about an hour before I'm completely satisfied with the tenderness of the pork. Again that depends on you, but once you're satisfied, add a little sugar, pepper, salt and the bayleaf. 

5. Lastly, add the boiled eggs om top of the dish. Don't cook them too long so the color of the eggs won't change drastically. 

And there you have it! Now I realized why I took a break from doing recipes. I'm always always all over the place, lol. But hopefully even if I was allover the place, you understood my steps. That's the goal, ain't it. On a personal note which I forgot to add, I usually add a lot of water while waiting for my pork to come to a boil. It's the perfect Adobo saltiness for me. Before I used to purely rely the flavor on soy sauce and I'd end up getting something too salty, but you get the drift. Please hook me up with your own recipes so I get to try them as well! I rarely take care of my feet. The most I get to actually giving it a little attention is putting some lotion every now and then but it doesn't always happen 'cause of the sticky, slippery feeling you get right after. And is it just me or I feel like it attracts dirt 3000x more after lotion has beenapplied because everything just clings on to your feet, yeah? But okay, enough with my unnerving habit of dismissing foot care. Today, I'm sharing a recent discovery I made to make taking care of our feet a little easier. 

I love to browse BeautyMNL mindlessly, always on the lookout for the next best useless purchase I don't really need, lol. I saw the Purederm Foot Peeling Mask and was intrigued by how it works. A quick google search of the product immediately shows you the graphic details of what happens to your feet when you start using the product. I badly wanted to buy it but it was out of stock. Thankfully when I went to the Manila Sundance Bazaar over at Megamall, I was able to grab myself one and at a wayyyyy lower price--P80! The title might seem misleading since The Banaue Rice Terraces isn't in Sagada. But I included it nonetheless in my Sleepless in Sagada series because it's a part of our Sagada tour and it was also our first stop en route to Sagada! So, don't mind the category. Can I just say it's difficult to categorize shit in one's blog? I keep on having different ideas on how to categorize my recipes, travels and food adventures, now, my whole blog is a mess. I'm thinking of starting from the beginning and just put out about 5 categories for the whole blog but...meh. I'm too lazy. I'll probably end up re-coding everything, huhu. Anyway, going back to what this post is really about.

The Banaue Rice Terraces, often referred to as the Eight Wonder of the World, are 2,000-3,000 yr old terraces that were carved in the mountains of Ifugao. And no, that's not stock knowledge. Thank you internetz for giving me that information. I was half-asleep during the trip, which I realize now, was about 8-10hrs, with stop overs in between. We were told by our guide, also our driver, that we can frolick around the terraces for 30minutes, and frolick we gladly did. I went down and walked along the terraces with my sister. It was a little scary because if you fall, you won't really die, I presume. But you'll definitely get hurt, real bad. It was a annoying as hell when other tourists, who saw that the only way to traverse the terraces is by following a one-way line, would try to go back because they get scared mid-way. I don't have a problem with being scared, but I have a problem with not being able to assess if you're able to take on the whole thing before proceeding. Cheezus. That was, by far, the only nuisance we experienced.
