Food Diary : Yakimix Prime

Wednesday, December 02, 2015

I love routines. At work, I have a flexible schedule but I try to stay on the same shift for the whole month so I can hang out with the same people, go home at the same time, I get to memorize what traffic is like, uhm, yeah. Scratch that last part. Traffic in this hell hole is unpredictable so let's go back to my point. My point is, I'm loyal to my routine as I am with my restaurants. Vikings is my favorite all-you-can-eat buffet here in the metro. They have a wide array of food options that I always end up having food coma after dining. But during my youngest sister's birthday, we wanted to try something different so we can treat our parents to as much buffet restaurants as we can, lol. #familygoals

This year, we decided to try out Yakimix Prime. We originally wanted Yakimix but they're always fully booked and my Dad hates traffic (who doesn't) so we thought Yakimix Prime in BGC would be perfect for him. Parking wasn't difficult and the place wasn't overcrowded with people.

PLACE/SERVICE
The place looked more spacious than your typical Yakimix. Service was also fast and efficient, given that the buffet has a higher price than your regular Yakimix joint. Every time we would request for something from the waiters/waitresses they would always immediately give us what we asked for. Whether it be busing the table or getting new utensils or adjusting the temperature of the grill. They would immediately refill all the food on the buffet table except the Sashimi! They had a lot of fresh seafood for grilling and I was actually surprised that even the shrimp was refilled fast. In other buffets, they would refill everything else but the shrimp because we all know how expensive shrimp can get. If not for the Sashimi, I would have given them a 5 out of 5. The Sashimi slices were pretty small and we had to ask the chef in charge to refill several times before they refilled the Sashimi section.

FOOD
The food was great. I was impressed with their Ramen collection and all of the fresh seafood available for grilling. I also enjoyed their choice of mushrooms and available sauces and condiments. Aside from Sashimi, which is my default favorite wherever I go, I was also delighted with their Salmon head in Teriyaki sauce! I had two servings because they didn't refill that station after my second serving, sad. Their dessert/drinks bar was okay, nothing special.

Will I come back? Definitely. At their price, the variation is way less than Vikings but they have a specialty which makes all the difference. I love Japanese food to death and so far, their food selection when it comes to eat-all-you-can buffet is great. Though I'd say Zensho still tops my list when it comes to Japanese eat-all-you-can buffets, I realized haven't blogged about it when I've visited the place several times already, lol. Too selfish to share my favorite place! Maybe on my next food diary. We're halfway through the week and can't believe it's already December! I can already hear the malls blasting Jose Mari Chan, lol. Have an awesome hump day!
